Last weekend, I went to XiaoZhou Village(小洲村), The last water village of Guangzhou. It’s the second time I visited there. Last time was 8 years ago. XiaoZhou Village changed a lot these years. The former national ecological village is disappearing!

They always say the best soup bun(汤包) is NanXiang XiaoLongbao(南翔小笼包). I have enjoyed many kinds of NanXiang Xiaolongbao in different places, But this time, I finally got a chance to visit the most famous soup bun store, Nanxiang Bun Shop (Nanxiang Mantou Dian) in Shanghai.

Some Old Traditions That Already Disappeared

It’s an aged bowl of Ge Kiln porcelain.
To my surprise, I saw my grandfather’s name was engraved on the bowl. ” That’s an old tradition of Southern Yangtze River that already disappeared.” My uncle said.

It’s Season Of Yangcheng Lake Mitten Crab

September and October in the traditional Chinese calendar are the harvest times for Chinese Mitten Crabs(大闸蟹). That also called the crab season in China.
My brother-in-law specially drove faraway to Yangcheng Lake(阳澄湖), the most famous area for the Chinese mitten crabs, And brought us a lot of fresh plump Chinese Mitten Crabs.
Yes, They are considered as the best yummies of the Southern Yangtze River.

Picking Water Chestnuts At Country Field

My dear sisters bought many Water Chestnuts for us at XiTang. That’s a kind of snack food at Southern Yangtze River.
My sisiters also told me that we can enjoy picking Water Chestnuts if we went to the country field at my father’s hometown.

How And Why We Make Double Ninth Cake?

I was so glad to know that my dear uncle and aunty would make Double Ninth cake for us. It’s the first time I ate Double Ninth cake.We can buy Double Ninth cake in fine design now, But few people know how to make it at home.
My uncle’s  Double Ninth cake seemed simply than those we saw in big party, But it was made by real traditional way. And It tasted so great!

XiTang, One of The Living Ancient Water Towns Of Southern Yangtze River

XiTang is only one hour away from my father’s hometown. It’s one of the most famous living ancient water towns of Southern Yangtze River. But I don’t like the crowd there.
I still miss these old days, water towns with clean river and pacific atmosphere.
