I know San Francisco cable car from some black and white films.
So when I finished my business work that sunny afternoon, I got on a Cable Car passing by, began my experience of finding its attractions.

The San Francisco cable car was found by a man named Andrew Hallidie from Great Britain. After witnessed a horse-car accident in 1869, Andrew Hallidie had inspiration for a cable railway. Four years later, Hallidie’s first cable car system near the top of Nob Hill at Clay and Jones Streets was tested. This was the world’s first cable-powered street railway.
During the following years, many cities in the USA built cable railways to replace horse-powered streetcars. But in the late 1880s, When electric streetcars became practical, they quickly replaced cable cars. So San Francisco is the last city in the world which operate cable cars.
San Francisco’s cable cars are also unique in thatthey are not elepropelled by electric power, But use mechanical power, The cable kept in motion by an engine in a centrally-located powerhouse.
It’s great to have such old things in such a modern City.
