Sagrada Familia, Antoni Gaudi’s Unfinished Masterpiece
I couldn’t express my heartquaking feeling when I standed at the feet of the Sagrada Familia. Everything seemed so insignificant in the presence of Antoni Gaudi’s unfinished masterpiece.

The Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Familia (simply Sagrada Familia) ,one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site , is Barcelona’s most important landmark. Though started from 1882, Construction of Sagrada Familia still not finished. It hopes will continue at least until 2041. The 5th generation architects are working hard on it now.
Since take over the project in 1883, Antoni Gaudi had devoted his life to Sagrada Familia. The huge project always met the deficit threatens problem. In order to raise funds, Master Antoni Gaudi devoted all of his fortune, and became the main apostle of the construction, and tirelessly explained it to everybody. He even personally went out to the street to raise funds.
Antoni Gaudi died in June the 10th, 1926 in Barcelona. His funeral was attended by crowds of people, and his body was buried in the crypt of Sagrada Familia as Barcelona people’s claim.
I’m always moved by this story. And I know why Sagrada Familia is so heartquaking, That’s the spirit of Antoni Gaudi, The spirit of Catalonia.
