St Nicholas’(Nikolaikirche) church was built in 12th century.It’s the largest and oldest church in Leipzig.

Johann Sebastian Bach had worked in this church as a choirmaster as well as in St Thomas’ Church. St Nicholas’(Nikolaikirche) church is also where Bach performed many of his compositions.

From September 1982 prayers for peace were held in St Nicholas’ church(Nikolaikirche) every Monday, with the words of the Beatitudes. And peace prayers on 9 October,1989 was one of them.
