The Jokhang Temple Travel Tips

Every year, the Great Prayer Festival will be held in . The rites of Dalai Lamas and Panchen Lamas’ initiation into lamahood are also held here.

Location: Located in the centre of old Lhasa city

Open Hour: 9:00-16:00.
The admission is 70 RenMinBi yuan. Photos can be taken in front of the monastery and on the top floor. Photos are taken for charges inside the halls. Charges are varied in different halls.

Note:

1.At 14:00 novice monks meet on the balcony of the second floor to debate religious doctrine.2.Lamas of Jokhang Monastery chant sutras at night, it is worth listening.3.Guides are not enough in the monastery and only serve for tourism groups.4.The life-sized statue of Sakyamuni aged 12 is the most scared statue in the eyes of Tibetan people.

5.It is unkindly to take a picture of Tibetans who stretch their body forward to pay their respects to the Buddha in front of them.
