4Cats was a meeting place for famous artists like Pablo Picasso, Miguel Utrillo and Ramón Casas in ealy 1900, It’s a typical bohemian restaurant you shoudn’t miss.

4Cats was a neo-gothic style restaurant designed by Puig Cadafalch(who worked together with Antonio Gaudi)in 1897, It’s named in Spanish as Los Cuatro Gatos , Els Quatre Gats in catalan, means “4 cats”, which is a spanish expression meaning ” a few unimportant persons”. But It’s famous by people here.
The most important people who brought the fame to this restaurant was Picasso. when Picasso lived in Barcelona in his early days, he came often to 4Cats, sketched different kinds of people there, and designed the first menu for it. Pablo Ruiz Picasso also presented his first exhibition here.
I had dinner there in the evenning, It was crowded and the price was much expensive. But you can feel the real atmosphere of 4Cats that moment. I enjoyed the live piano music there too.
Business lunches are cheap, at about 10 euros, including Spanish wine. It’s also a good option for breakfast, But, remember, Don’t miss a cup of 4Cats coffee!
It is besides the pedestrian street Puerta del Angel, close to Plaza de Cataluna. But it’s not on the main street and not easy to find, I will upload the guide map I took from 4Cats to show you the way soon.
