Requiem For WenChuan Earthquake Anniversary

I was invited to attend the Charity Concert for Wenchuan Earthquake Anniversary the day before last. It’s a Symphony Orchestra Concert performed Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem. The concert successfully raised 730 thousands RenMinBi for Earthquake disaster area.

The entrepreneur of concert was Lions Clubs International’s GuangZhou department. I knew many people of Lions Clubs during the days when I was a volunteer at the disaster area. They are all people with warm heart.

They choice The church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus(圣心大教堂) as the place where the concert was hold. Founded at 1863, it is the Cathedral of Guangzhou diocese. . It is also the most famous Gothic architectural in China. Since the building is entirely made of granite, it was also called “The Stone House”. It perfectly represents the combination of Chinese and Western cultures.

The church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Travel Guide:

Address: Yide Zhong Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou (广州市越秀区一德中路)

Bus: Line No.8, 40, 58, 61, 82, 194. Near the Yide Road Stop.

Admission: Free

Opening Hours: 7:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. every Sunday

    wow this cathedral is grandeur. In the midst of disaster so much good does come out. But it is still sad that something like that had to happen. I love the pictures though it is simply breath taking :)

    我父母的单位也出了一本地震的画册,那些家长守着孩子尸体痛苦的镜头,实在让人心碎。

    Hi Jam, I am not a Christian, But I love churches.
    This church locates in GuangZhou, yeah, I didn’t see churches in Chengdu too!

    BTW, I don’t know why I can’t visit your website, It always said URL err!
