GoodBye, My Green Campus

iWalk 14 April 2009 20 Comments

Some years ago, I got my first job as a college teacher in Chengdu,Sichuan. That’s a very small college but has long history. I love the green campus so much and can still remember every detail of there.
But my friends told me all the buildings of there would be dismantled in no days, and the college would move to another place. It’s so sad to know the news.

The campus looks very green indeed. It is interesting to see all the greeneries even on the wall. It’s a pity to see such a unique campus being pulled down. It should be preserved as an Eco-building. I can imagine the freshness of the air in the campus.

Yeah, Metz, Everytime I see such things, I hope I can have enough power to save them. But I met too many and could do nothing.

Maybe it’s expense of fast growing. :(

Wow! These are stunning buildings, but I have always wondered about such buildings: don’t creatures such as snakes, especially, find the creeping ivy a very good place to hang out? I always thought there is the real risk if you left your window open that you will find one in your room, in pursuit of a lizard or something

I reckon it must be hard to maintain.
Why would they wanna destroy such a nice historical building?

    I don’t understand either,Cashmere.

I don’t know why many big cities are busy to destroy historical buildings and streets, then build a new old-style one. :(

Those buildings are beautiful and it is really sad that they are going to get pulled down. That is the nature of man’s creations though. They just don’t last forever. At least youy got your memories (as well as some nice snapshots!)

Yeah, Fortunately I took these photos at last year when I visited old friends there. If I knew that’s the last chance, I would take more….
