Say Goodbye To My Second Hometown After WenChuan Earthquake

When you see this post, I already back to my second hometown, .
was a world famous town now, because it was totally destroyed by on 12 May 2008. Thousands of my neighbors died there.
Tomorrow was the last chance I could enter my parents’ house, which was badly damaged. So I booked the plane back to . I couldn’t miss the last chance to say goodbye to my second hometown.


was named after the story of LiuXiu, an emperor of Han Dynasty. It’s said He had lived for years. But sculptures of LiuXiu and his generals was badlly damaged because of earthquake.


Houses and workshops on the ZiYan Mountain, which was part of Longmen Mountain, were badly damaged.

was born in 1966 as a sample of “Third-line Construction” during the Cold War era . For national defense construction, a huge number of technicians and skillful workers were transferred from big cities like Shanghai, Harbin to the southwest China.


This totally collapsed building was where my family lived for about 10 years.


All people of have to move to a new city, It’s hard to say goodbye to where they have lived for so many years.


This clock is world famous now, It forever stop at 14:28pm, That’s the time when the earthquake happened.

    Hi iWalk, I didn’t know your hometown is in Sichuan. I am deeply saddened by the destructive earthquake that destroyed millions of homes and families. I like Sichuan very much when I was there 2 years ago for holiday.

    Yeah, Dear Eunice, I was born in HanWang because my parents transferred to Sichuan during the “Third-line Construction” era.

    SiChuan a beautiful and leisure place. I love it so much.

    Dear JH,

    I just came back a few hours ago.

    I choosed the same time back HanWang with prime minister Wen JiaBao. It’s his third time visiting HanWang after the Earthquake.

    HanWang has too much memory to us, yeah, “Lest We Forget”.

    I am a xilaren and lived the same experience in 1981 and had to leave my country because of a bad earthquake so I know what you are feeling. We have to at least carry hope and whatever good memories we have with us into a better future.
