It’s Time To Say Goodbye To My Second Hometown
When you see this post, I already back to my second hometown, HanWang.
HanWang was a world famous town now, because it was totally destroyed by WenChuan earthquake on 12 May 2008. Thousands of my neighbors died there.
Tomorrow was the last chance I could enter my parents’ house, which was badly damaged. So I booked the plane back to SiChuan. I couldn’t miss the last chance to say goodbye to my second hometown.

HanWang was named after the story of LiuXiu, an emperor of Han Dynasty. It’s said He had lived HanWang for years. But sculptures of LiuXiu and his generals was badlly damaged because of earthquake.

Houses and workshops on the ZiYan Mountain, which was part of Longmen Mountain, were badly damaged.

One of workshops of Dongfang Steam Turbine Works.

Another workshop of Dongfang Steam Turbine Works.

Dongfang Steam Turbine Works was born in 1966 as a sample of “Third-line Construction” during the Cold War era . For national defense construction, a huge number of technicians and skillful workers were transferred from big cities like Shanghai, Harbin to the southwest China.

This totally collapsed building was where my family lived for about 10 years.

All people of Dongfang Steam Turbine Works have to move to a new city, It’s hard to say goodbye to HanWang where they have lived for so many years.

This clock is world famous now, It forever stop at 14:28pm, That’s the time when the earthquake happened.

I am a xilaren and lived the same experience in 1981 and had to leave my country because of a bad earthquake so I know what you are feeling. We have to at least carry hope and whatever good memories we have with us into a better future.
