Port Vauban & Fort Carré Of Antibes, Where Napoleon Buonaparte Was Imprisoned
Our bus just stoped at the Port Vauban.
This is the largest marina in Europe. Many of the world’s largest luxury yachts stay here. So it also called “Billionaire’s Wharf”.
Overlooking from Port Vauban, I can see 16th century fortress “Fort Carré” on a promontory, That’s the place where Napoleon Buonaparte was imprisoned when Robespierre fell.

From this picture, we can see the traces of two great people, Pablo Picasso and Napoleon Buonaparte.(Fort Carré)

It maybe the best place to see luxury yachts of this world.

A better angle to see Fort Carré.

Luxury yachts and small fisher share the Port Vauban together.

These fishermen were busy sending some fresh seafood to the Provencal Food Market of Antibes.
Port Vauban & Fort Carré Of Antibes, Where Napoleon Buonaparte Was Imprisoned
Antibes, has been called as the name of Antipolis by ancient Greeks. It’s a favourite choice of tourists to Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur.
As early as 5th century BC, The ancient Greeks already been here. They built an ancient harbor by the natural crescent the rocks. In late medieval times, A master architect named Vauban designed and built castles and fortresses all over Europe. That’s also where the Port Vauban’s name from. Today, Port Vauban was the main sight of Antibes and the center of Mediterranean yachting.
Fort Carré was one of Vauban’s first fortresses. But the reason it became so famous was it’s the place where Napoleon Bonaparte was imprisoned when Robespierre fell.
I meet some fishermen there. It’s great to see they live so happy with so many luxury yachts around.
It’s really a comprehensive place.
